This week, I want to talk to the Mommas out there.

First off, let me commend you. We have what I believe to be the hardest job out there. But it is also the most rewarding. What person out there in the corporate world gets to say they created and raised a human being in the course of their career?! But woah nelly, it ain’t easy, is it?!

My theme for my blog is “Chosen”. I’ve blogged about how we are chosen women, and how God has a purpose for our life. I think that as moms, we can lose sight of the fact that God chose us to be the parents of our daughters or sons. He hand picked us and matched us up with our sweet, precious babes. I like to think of it like a “heavenly adoption agency”. These babies are not ours, they are His. But guess what? He put them in our care! He believes in you. He is cheering you on, praising you when you get it right, and holding your hand when you feel like you’ve done it all wrong. But because God “hired” us to be these children’s caretakers, we need to be seeking His counsel as to how to raise them. He’s the only one who raised a kid and did it all right!

Moms are worriers. I think it’s in the job description. I worry from the moment I wake up to the moment I finally fall asleep at the end of the day.I worry about my daughter’s health, her wellbeing, her emotional state. I worry about things I can’t control; What if she gets scared while I’m at school and my mother in law can’t console her? What if she gets sick and I’m not there to help her? What if she wakes up from her nap and wonders why I’m gone? What if, what if, what if?

What if…….I let God have those worries? What if…..I let God have control of my only child?

That’s a tough one. I can’t imagine releasing control of the life I created and love and cherish and would do anything in the world for. But here’s the thing. I didn’t do ANYTHING! God did. He did it! He knew my daughter before I did, He created her, and He loves and cherishes her more than I am ever humanly capable of!

So……how? How are we to release control and let God have control of their lives?

We pray.

We pray for our kids, we pray for ourselves, we pray for our friend’s kids and we pray for our friends who are raising them. We can’t do it without God’s help. We just aren’t wired to do it on our own.

Pray for protection for your kids. Pray for God’s love to be enough in their lives so they won’t seek it somewhere else. Pray that He will meet their every need.

Just as you would do anything for your child, God would do anything for you.

He loves you Mom. And he’s proud of the work you are doing. No matter what happens in our kids’ lives, if we are taking the time to daily seek His guidance in our parenting, He is proud of the work we’ve done. He knows how hard it is, and how exhausted we are, and how trying this job is. But He loves to see us trying our best.

Proverbs 22:6 says “Start children off in the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

God blesses us when we raise them knowing Him. It says even when they are old they will not turn from it!

I’m praying for God’s help, so that my babies will never turn from Him, even when I’m gone from this earth. Will you join me?
